I think I’ve said this before but I’m still obsessed with how utterly Not Inej’s Problem it is that Kaz has his various things going on. Like. She very explicitly does not have to fix him & she makes this known and Kaz does actually love her so he’s just like, the #1 boundary respecter about it. He’s far more concerned with her freedom than his personal feelings. And she does very obviously care about him and want him to improve but it is ultimately his own shit he needs to work on especially while he’s too emotionally stunted to even tell her what’s wrong. It would have been so easy to write their dynamic as some weird misogynistic bullshit but Inej has a backbone & brings out the best in Kaz specifically because she’s uncompromising like that instead of just coddling and enabling him. Inej makes Kaz a better person because *she makes him want to be better.* It’s so good
